Thames Marathon
We are looking for Safety Kayakers to come and join us on Sunday 14th August 2022The Henley Swim series Thames Marathon event is a point to point river swim from Henley-on-Thames to Marlow. It is being held on Sunday 14th August and we’re currently recruiting to fill the last spots on a team of 60 safety kayakers to join our water safety team for the event, where around 1,000 participants will be taking to the water for the 14km swim.
What’s required?
We’re recruiting a team safety kayakers to support this river swim event on the morning of Sunday 14th August. The role is to supervise the participants as they pass through your specific zone completing the 14km swim down the River Thames.
We do ask that team members are of a suitable standard to carry out the role, ideally meeting the following criteria:
- Minimum of 16 years of age
- Competent paddler – of at least 2 star standard for kayaks
- Able to provide your own boat & kit
- If you hold one of the qualifications listed here it would be an advantage
Event Details
Thames Marathon starts at 7am with the last swimmer expected around 3pm, however, your start and finish times will be dependent on the zone you are working in. You will also be able to come down on the Saturday and camp overnight before the potentially early Sunday morning start. Please find below some outline information about the event:
Venue: Henley-on-Thames to Marlow.
Start point will be specific to each sub team/zone
Timings: 06:30 – 15:00 (Zone dependent)
Pay: £80 – £100 (Zone dependent)
Camping: Is available on the Saturday night
