2024 Training Events

Find out all the details for our 2024 training events and courses below

This year, we’re taking a slightly different approach to pre-season training.

Rather than hosting a few larger pre-season training days, instead we’re laying on a number of smaller, more targeted, pre-season training events & courses.

Session Content

Boat crew training (induction/refresher)
Rescue boat crew inductions / refreshers are for existing boat crew team members, and those interested in joining the team this season. It allows familiarisation with the types of rescue boats we use and the casualty rescue procedures we follow. If you are unsure whether you are eligible to join the rescue boat team, please get in touch.

The AM & PM sessions are the same – you do not need to book onto both, however, there are some sessions only for those refreshing their training (i.e. have previously completed the induction). We do have some capacity restraints, so may need to swap people between session and  priority will be given to existing team members first.

SS&R (formally know as SESA) & revalidation
This session will cover the new SS&R syllabus which includes many of the key practical skills for safety kayakers, specifically looking at dealing with common issues as well as unconscious casualties.

Kayak Team Leader
This session is designed to help equip you with all of the skills and knowledge you’ll need to be a kayak team leader for us at one of our events. In small groups you’ll carry out theoretical exercises and present ideas to the wider group. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions to experienced team leaders and our core team. It’ll also look at radio procedures / use of our VHF radios.
